An online friend, Laura Hedgecock, kindly invited me to write a guest post on her blog. She writes primarily about sharing memories, so I shared—what else?—a memory about my Italian heritage.

Please join me over at her blog to read about Easter bread and Easter pizza, and what that means to me: http://treasurechestofmemories.com/2013/03/20/recipe-for-posterity/

  1. Brings me down memory lane. We will be making this in just a few short days. My whole family gets involved. They help prepare the meat, cheese and eggs. I make the dough. Then we have an assembly line to make the pizzas. I make a few that I give away, but the rest, we enjoy at home. I am hoping this year for my children to be awake to make the dough. I have shared this recipe with several friends, but most don’t want to do the work involved. I never considered it work, but rather a way to spend quality time with my family.

    • It’s not really work when the family’s in the kitchen with you, is it? Maybe a labor of love, or just time well spent. Especially when you get to enjoy the fruits of your labor. (That’s kind of a weird metaphor.) Enjoy!

  2. Staci, great post. I enjoyed hearing the story of the family tradition…I’m now wanting some lasagna and Easter bread 🙂 Some of my favorite holiday memories happen in the kitchen with loved ones.

  3. Great post, what wonderful memories! Our big Italian Easter feast was always lasagna, which we affectionately called “Eastalasagna”. 🙂 As I get older, these holidays from the past are getting harder to remember, so it’s nice to see writing like this that can jar the brain cells a little bit.

We make pizza at home as well, and my daughter just learned herself…while she was in Italy!!

    • Forget the photos. I hope she’s cooking for you ALL THE TIME! That’s the kind of souvenir I’d want… the kind that keeps on giving and giving and giving. Of course, I doubt my waistline and hips could take the abuse…
